Michael Huang’s article, “How Ibne Safi taught an entire generation to read,” was recently published on DAWN. The article discusses how the works of Ibn-e-Safi, a hugely popular Urdu novelist, helped shape reading habits in Pakistan after independence by popularizing serialized mystery and spy fiction and cultivating a culture of regular reading.
