My name is Bilal Malik and I’m a doctoral candidate at Harvard Graduate School of Education. I am writing to let you know about an exciting new initiative for Pakistanis, undertaken by a group of us from MIT, Harvard, LUMS, and other universities in collaboration with GEO. We are creating a free online portal that will provide comprehensive information to Pakistani students about how to apply to undergraduate, graduate, and medical programs abroad. (For additional details on Shaheen-Pakistan’s vision and strategy, please click here or email us at shaheenpakistan.org@gmail.com).
I am reaching out to you in case you also care about enhancing guidance and counseling resources for Pakistanis, improving the quality of applications coming out of the country, and increasing the representation of Pakistanis in higher education around the world. If so, you can help in two ways: First, you can forward this email to individuals or list-servs who may be interested in helping with this initiative. Second, and more importantly, you can contribute an hour of your time. In this hour, we will get your insights about the application process in your field. We will then consolidate your tips with those of other people to develop country-specific and field-specific admissions tip-sheets. The little time you give us has the potential to save you countless hours in the future, because you can redirect any future queries for admissions-advice to this webpage that you would have helped create! At the same time, your tips can also change the lives of innumerable students in Pakistan — particularly less privileged students who have no one else to guide them. Please let us know about your willingness to help by filling one of the forms here: http://goo.gl/FIqD7M, so we can contact you. (Filling the form enters you in our ‘people willing to share admission-tips’ database, and will only take 3 minutes to complete).
Thank you.
