Enrollment is open to all interested in exploring Urdu language and culture, and faculty members at Community Colleges and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) are eligible to receive full funding to participate in the course thanks to support from AIPS’s Department of Education’s Title VI Overseas Research Centers funding. The 10-week course will run from February 26 to May 5, 2024.

Fellowships are available to both post-doctoral scholars (Senior fellowships) and pre-doctoral scholars who have completed all requirements of a Ph.D. except a dissertation (Junior fellowships). Priority may be given to applicants who have not received an AIPS fellowship in the past two years. Short-Term Research Grants are open to those affiliated with an academic institution within the US, regardless of citizenship, and last from one to three months in Pakistan. All applications for fellowships are due by February 1, 2024, and all applications for Short-Term Research grants are due by February 15, 2024. This panel will present the mission of Critical Pakistan Studies for prospective contributors to the journal. It also covers the different formats of intellectual inquiry that the journal publishes. After a series of short collective and individual presentations by the editors, there will be an open Q&A session for those attending the panel.

The journal is in affiliation with AIPS, Le Centre d’Études de l’Inde et de l’Asie du Sud (CEIAS), and the University of Exeter South Asia Centre.

Nadeem has been integral to AIPS operations in Pakistan, and his contributions will be appreciated and remembered by many. AIPS thanks him for his many years of service.

During his time with AIPS, Nadeem facilitated partnerships between US and Pakistani scholars and universities. As the resource person for those visiting Pakistan, and in his role as AIPS-Pakistan Director, he helped numerous scholars conduct research, facilitate workshops, and deliver lectures. AIPS applauds Nadeem’s quarter-century commitment to Pakistan Studies and extends its best wishes to him regarding his future plans.
