AIPS is happy to announce the recent election results for our Executive Committee!
Dr. Iftikhar Dadi (Cornell University) has been elected the next AIPS Vice-President. Drs. Sanaa Riaz (MSU Denver) and Daniel Majchrowicz (Northwestern University) have both been re-elected to the Executive Committee as At-Large Members. The three-year terms of these offices will begin on October 1st, 2022. Thank you to the Nominating Committee for organizing the elections and to these elected officers for their willingness to serve AIPS.

2022 AIPS Fellowships

AIPS is excited to announce our 2022-23 Fellows! Post-Doctoral Fellowships were awarded to Sohaib Khan, Yale University; and Uzma Rizvi, Pratt Institute of Design. Pre-Doctoral Fellowships were awarded to Marvi Ahmed, Cornell University; Sanaullah Khan, Johns Hopkins University; Shandana Waheed, Stanford University; and Tayeba Batool, University of Pennsylvania. This year’s cohort will be exploring a range of topics including urban ecology, anthropology, archaeology, and development studies. Congratulations to this year's fellows!

2022 AIPS Short-Term Research Grants

AIPS would like to congratulate our 2022 Short-Term Research Grant Awardees: Sana Naeem, Harvard University; Asif Sandeelo, University of Georgia; Javairia Shahid, Columbia University; Syed Eisar Haider, University of Notre Dame; and Aabiya Noman Baqai, the University of Texas at Austin. These scholars will spend up to 3 months conducting research in Pakistan. AIPS would like to thank all of our applicants for the 2022 grants; information on next year's Short-Term Research Grants will be released later this fall. AIPS Board of Trustees At-Large Election

Congratulations to Dr. Gwendolyn Kirk and Dr. Maira Hayat who were recently elected to the At-Large trustee positions on the AIPS Board of Trustees. Dr. Kirk is an Assistant Professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), where her research explores the intersection of language, culture, and power. Dr. Hayat is an Assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame focusing on anthropology, environmental issues, and bureaucracy. At-Large Trustees serve 3-year terms on the Board of Trustees and represent AIPS Individual Members on the Board, in addition to the institutional trustees from AIPS Institutional Members.

Call for Papers: Forman Journal of Social Sciences

The Forman Journal of Social Sciences (FJSS) is seeking submissions for their second issue. Submissions are due by April 8, 2022. "The main objective of FJSS is to provide an intellectual platform for local and international scholars to promote original and valuable scholarship in the Social Sciences, including but not limited to subject areas of Anthropology, Archaeology, Demography, and Population Studies, Economics, Geography, Gender Studies, History, International Relations, Political Science, Psychology, Public Policy, and Sociology.
FJSS welcomes original articles, review articles, and book reviews. All publications will be made available online. There are no submission or publication fees."

AIPS Executive Committee Election Results

AIPS is happy to share the results of our most recent Executive Committee elections. Dr. Cara Cilano (University of Michigan) was reelected as AIPS Secretary and Dr. Iftikhar Dadi (Cornell University) was reelected as AIPS Treasurer. Both members' terms will last until September 2024. Congratulations Drs. Cilano and Dadi!

Call for Proposals: THAAP Conference 2022

After a forced hiatus of two years due to the pandemic THAAP has decided to hold the 11th International THAAP Conference – 2022, in November 2022 on the following theme: Archaeology and Living Cultural Legacy of Harappa Civilization. Read the full Call for Proposals here.

Scholars are invited to research, write, and present papers at the conference to be held on November 25,26 & 27, 2022 in Lahore. Please send an abstract of no more than 300 words outlining the thought, research and presentation that you will make at the Conference by March 1st. The paper to be presented shall be 3000 to 4000 words. Submissions should be sent to thaap.conference@gmail.com.
